The Rules of GA

Our main goal on Golden Age is for everybody to feel welcome and enjoy the roleplaying experience. As such, there are some rule that we would appreciate for you to follow.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact a member of our administration team, or post in the Questions and Suggestions forum.

It may seem like a lot to read, but please make sure that you do. These rules are important to the running of Golden Age and the enjoyment of our members.

All accounts should be the character first and last name, starting with capitals. (eg. Harry Potter, rather than harry potter, HarryPotter or hpotz1980)
200 x 300 pixels is the maximum, and recommended size for avatars. Signatures should not be excessive. Feel free to use spoilers in signatures to allow more gifs, etc. If you need help with image resizing, PM me or post a request in the OOC section.
The maximum number of characters per member is five, after which you will need approval from an admin. You will almost always be given approval, but if you are not you will be given a reason why and a possible solution.
The minimum words for an in character post if fifty.
While we suggest against it, character names from other fandoms will be accepted. However, the character themselve can not be cannon to a fandom other than Harry Potter.
There will be no described sexual situations allowed to be roleplayed on the site. You may imply that they happened, or reach a respectable point in such a thread before ‘fading to black’, but nothing should be detailed.
Violence, swearing and other adult themes are allowed within reason, though they will require a rating to be added to the title of the thread.
Triggers are something that the GA staff do not take lightly. A trigger is something that may distress another member, and are considered sensitive topics. These may include, but is not limited to, self harm, suicide, child abuse, domestic violence, rape, and anything else that may upset fellow member. While we do allow triggers to be roleplayed about, they should not be in detail and should hold true to the rules mentioned above. You will also be required to place the word ‘Trigger’ in the topic title, and a warning at the beginning of the first post, giving a one or two word description as to what the trigger is. This includes threads where trigger subjects are mentioned in dialogue, thoughts or narration.
The chatbox is there for communication and enjoyment. If there are any problems occurring in the chatbox, and there is not an admin present or an admin is involved then please copy and paste the conversation in a PM to an admin (or a different admin), so that the issue can be dealt with thoroughly. In character drama is fun to roleplay in the chatbox occasionally, but please be aware that if it is causing a problem for another member, then you should stop. If anybody says that they are uncomfortable, then you should immediately stop the conversation. Nobody should ever be told or asked to leave the chatbox because they are not comfortable.
You may not control another handler's character. You are also not allowed to make decisions that will impact another person's character without discussing it with them, and gaining their permission first. This includes, but is not limited to, pregnancy, mate bonds, serious injury or death.
Stay true to your characters. They are yours, and you should feel comfortable allowing them to follow the roleplay where it takes them. Do not let other people guilt you into anything, or make you feel like you have to do something, no matter their reasons. Which flows into the next point.
Harassment of our members will not be tolerated. If you would like for somebody to roleplay with you, then it’s always okay to ask, but if they decline or say they are busy then you should let it lie. If somebody owes you a post, it is acceptable to send them a polite PM a week after your last post to remind them about the thread. If somebody has posted in the absence thread, then expect them not to post. If they do post, then consider it a bonus even if it is not to you. You are never allowed to ask on the forums or in the chatbox why someone is away, unless they have opened to conversation. Any violations of this will be considered harassment and you will be given a warning, followed by further discipline for further infractions. There will be no tolerance what so ever for pressuring people to roleplay their characters in even the most innocent of sexual situations. This will be deemed sexual harassment and depending on the circumstances could result in a permanent ban on the first infraction. Please keep in mind, that this will also be applied to GA related harassment or argument on social media or other contact methods, if proof if provided.
